For the time being, the Angels are resting.

It’s been two years, four months and, erm, three days of 3-4 day a week Progression Raiding plus non raid night farm raids, drunk raids and alt raids. And remember, we didn’t break after we cleared ICC until Cata came out. That’s more time together than people spend with their own flesh and blood.

At least it’s been a good time. We didn’t start quite in time to complete Ulduar, but we gave it a damn good try – Necrominion putting off prospective recruits by screaming down Vent for them to ‘HEAL ME, MUTHA*****R’ notwithstanding.

We switched to two 10man teams for ToGC- Ironhaart and Ullerdrengen leading Team Kitty, and Ravenhaart and Frazerest leading Team Moomoo in competition with each other. But in the end, there was nothing to separate the two teams – both were fantastic (despite the Iron – Oh no, I’m tanking with my fishing pole equipped! Hellfisker – That’s ok, I’m still wearing my Chef’s hat! – debacle). 25man was always fun, but never our forte though we had some success. In 10man we vanquished all including HC Anub and securing the Mad Skill achievement in plenty of time for ICC. During this time we killed Onixia realm 2nd on 25man and got I think 2 realm first achievments.

10 and 25man teams progressed through ICC at good pace - if not ground breaking - killing the Lich King 10man with the the buff at 15% and a while later taking the 25man honour. Never managed the LKHC kill - we did get the Fallen King title and the mount, which included an epic *1 healer, 1 tank, Heroism, Nuke* stratergy for the All You Can Eat ach on Sindrigosa. We plugged on through the summer and autum, realm 2nd kill on RS10 I think, but at that point people started to lose interest in the game and our numbers dwindled as we awaited the Cataclysm. Special mention should be made of the Legendary trip to Brighton toward the end of 2010.

When Cata hit we gathered our warriors and strode into BoT and BWD slaying all before us, our progressed slowed by the stubborn Dragon's refusal to die! We prevailed eventually and set to TotFW - Al'Akir frustrating us to the extreme, until we killed him the night before the nerf.

We charged victorious into the Firelands - our progress slow but steady - we paused briefly at Alysrazor before crashing against the wall that was Ragnaros. Perseverence was the key. Frustrated from night after night of failed attacks, we buckled down on the last night before the nerf (again!). As is the AV way, hours after raid should have ended, less hours until the nerf, the Firelord fell. And there you have it.

As to what the future will bring for AV, at this point we don’t know. We do know that we can look back, and look back with pride. Pride at our acomplishments, pride at our achievements, pride in the honourable reputation our guild built for itself and finally be proud we could call ourselves Angels.

20.9.11 - In Before The Nerf! Again!

by Ironhaart, 130 days ago

For the love of god! I don't know why we seem to have the most awful luck with End Bosses.

We came in full of confidence and put in some great tries and very quickly got down a perfect attempt, which would have been a textbook kill and a video to be proud of, if not for an unfortunate cock up at about 4% that killed both tanks and wiped us

The raid dragged on, we got punchy and made silly mistakes. We got bitter and tears were shed. We got sweary-mary and threats were made. RL suicide was discussed (and reported, however not confirmed).

Half an hour after Raid time ended, another of those lovely smooth attempts that are a joy to behold appeared, but as pressure mounted people started dying at 5% and it snowballed into a 0.5% WIPE!!!

But there was no way we were going to be beaten. NOT THIS TIME! We rallied, we pulled, we completely screwed up phase three, but we killed him! Mere hours before the nerf, again, thank God.

Thanks to Frazarest for the video, again.

13.9.11 - Dying By Flame

by Ironhaart, 137 days ago

After a fantastic Raid on Monday, Tuesday had us all set with tweeked tactics, poised to conquer phase 3 of Ragnaros' epic fight.

But alas, we were defeated. Our best attempt had us 1.7% from a kill after losing a DPS early in p3. Gutted.

The smoothness and coordination we had going at the end of the night was a sight to behold though and I, for one, would like to congratulate everyone for their effort in learning this fight and performing beautifully.

It sounds like we are done with it, but we are not (obviously), I'm just assuming that this was our last attempt pre nerf.

If that's the case then I am saddened we have run out of time and next week's guaranteed kill will be a little hollow. However, we are looking forward to the nerfs possibly being staggered, and we may yet face Raggy in full power mode once more time. And then kill him wink

Apologies for the absence of posts here lately. Just nothing to report.

Both teams have all bosses on farm and are stuck at about 40% on Raggy.

23.8.11

After phenomenal bad luck the previous night, exacerbated by a less than optimal healer set up, Pheonix nailed Staghelm straight out the gate this time.

Yet more bad luck at the end made it look messy, but at that point it didn't matter and we were relieved to be moving on, 99% of the fight executed correctly.

Thanks to Fraza for recording again.

So, three practice goes, one ninja pull *ahem* (see rule 15) and swap a of healer duties later and the Majordomo falls to team Vengeance. Hooray!

Now we got a mountain to climb in Ragnaros. Let's hope it doesn't take as long as Al'akir!

After getting so close on Monday's raid -

THE STUPID FIREY BIRDY DIED!

Thanks to Fraza for capturing our incompetance Happy

I think my end comments sum it up as usual.

To be totally honest our earlier tries were far smoother and we really had the hang of it - it just turns out our actual kill was really messy (I cringe when I see Papps and I go for the same worm! I kept getting lost - I blame the adrenaline).

I make out like I hate it, but this has to be the most fun fight in Firelands so far.

Next week we nail the Majordomo - fairly cool fight and we got him to 8% already, just the last 10-15% gets really intense. Onwards!

9.8.11 - Alysrazor Update

by Ironhaart, 172 days ago

This Flaming Bird seems overly hard

Interrupts sorted, both tanks exceeding 100k dps on the chicklings (it was 100k, right Raps?) finishing them off in good time - then the fiery tornadoes carve up the raid!

Final epic attempt - the chicks die; the raid survives the fire (wow); we blast the boss in the burn phase (tanks surviving in pro style Happy) Bastard bird flies up in the air to restart phase 1 and *Whump! There It Is!* practically one-shots the lot of us! Bad times. And it was still only on about 75%.

If this keeps up Ima change the team name to avoid being associated with this bitch mad

Progress made on Alysrazor - but Vengeance coming up a little short on dps. Bit more work required here, let's see what Phoenix can do to her.

Incidentally, I blasted the last few thousand for 'Critmagedon' 100k in the afternoon - you're all welcome.

I seem to be the only one who cares about it, but I'm happy so there tongue out

Vengeance cracked Baleroc also - with only 2 healers I believe! Pro Style

Raven off sic but Perebus filled in, and Phoenix 'steers' to victory against Rhyolith also!

Also Baleroc totally farmable, and I love doing the upstairs tanking on Beth'tilac.

Now we need to sort the interrupt issues on Alysrazor.
